Access Arrangements at V.A.S.E Academy

At V.A.S.E Academy , we are committed to ensuring that all students have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in assessments.

Access Arrangements are pre-examination adjustments based on evidence of need and a student’s normal way of working.

These may include arrangements such as extra time, supervised rest breaks, or the use of a scribe. Our SEND team works closely with teachers and the Exams Office to identify eligible students and ensure that the appropriate applications are made to the awarding bodies in line with JCQ regulations.

If your child request Access Arrangements, an application for access arrangements will be processed using
Access arrangements online, complying with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you have any questions about access arrangements, please contact the school office and/or email exam@vaseacaemy.co.uk

Special Considerations

What happens if my child is unwell during exams?

  • We understand that life can be unpredictable. If your child experiences a temporary illness, injury, or a significant personal crisis (such as a family bereavement) during the exam period, they may be eligible for Special Consideration.
  • This is a process where the exam board may apply a small percentage adjustment to the final mark to account for the disadvantage faced on the day.
  • If you feel your child has been affected, please contact the School Exams Officer exam@vaseacademy.co.uk immediately. Do not wait until results day.

  • Evidence: You will likely need to provide medical evidence or a formal letter explaining the situation.

  • Please note: Special consideration is for unexpected issues. Long-term support for known needs is handled separately under "Access Arrangements."
